Cambridge fertility expert fears ‘add-on treatments’ have not been properly tested

Stephen Harbottle shares concerns with the UK's fertility watchdog that private clinics are offering 'add-on' treatments which have not been properly tested to see if they actually work.

Mr Harbottle said: “It is right that there is concern about the lack of evidence in some areas of current practice. The industry is tightly regulated by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) but this doesn't stop clinics offering add-on treatment options to their patients with a questionable or complete lack of an evidence base and at considerable additional expense.
